First Annual Sunday School event at the Archdiocese picnic By Christine Samuel |

On July 19th, 2009, the Archdiocese held their annual picnic at St. Mary’s Villa. The Unified Sunday School held its first joint Sunday School event at the picnic. The theme for the day was based on the parable of the Good Samaritan. All of the students who registered wore a t-shirt with the verse “Do unto others as you who have them do unto you”. The teachers and volunteers split up the students into small groups and taught them the lesson for the day. This lesson was easy for all of the students to understand. After the lesson was concluded, the students made beautiful sand art cross necklaces that they were able to wear for the day and to take home. |

All of the necklaces came out great and it was so nice to see the students excited to make them. After a break for lunch, the kids were called back to enjoy some popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones. All of the children really enjoyed themselves. This was one of the few times that there was an organized event for them and the parents appreciated it as well. The volunteers and teachers were so willing to help and all of their hard work was much appreciated. Our hope is to make this a yearly event and have more attendance, more games, and more fun and learning in the future.
