Locks of Love

Hi;

My name is Julie and I am nine years old. I heard about Locks of Love at Sunday School. I then decided that I wanted to donate my hair to help others. My hair was already long but not quite long enough to cut.  I decided to wait till my hair was long enough & then donate it.

During the summer it was very hot at times but I knew I had to wait till it was ready.

Then that day came & I was excited when I got my hair cut.  My cousin Ghada came over to cut it for me. I washed my hair, she put it in a pony tail, braided it and tied it at the end; in one great snip of the scissors it was done!  Then when I saw my hair actually off my head, I was shocked!  I held it up & said, "Oh, my gosh, my hair".
We gently placed it in a plastic bag to bring to Sunday school. We kind of made this a special occasion by having my Mom, two sisters (Joyce & Jane) plus my two visiting cousins from Sweden to all be a part of my special day.

I came to Sunday school & showed my teacher my hair.  She immediately said this should be blessed. Since church services hadn't started yet, she took us into church for a special prayer from the priest. I then made a special card to send to the Locks of Love organization along with my cut hair.

I was very happy to receive a certificate of appreciation from the doctors, staff and volunteers plus the children who would benefit from my hair donation..

I was proud that I did it and hope my story will make others think of doing the same.

God bless those needy children,

Julie,

PS My hair is growing long again and the best part is that my two sisters, Joyce & Jane are growing their hair to do the same! I hope someone of you will do it too.
